However, in 2022, this landscape was very different, and only a few companies managed to anticipate the shift. Its proposal is based on offering a set of artificial intelligence tools for content creation, where the only limitation is the user's imagination. Thus, the platform enhances creativity and facilitates the work of designers, creators, and professionals of all kinds. In just a few weeks, Magnific has become the European AI platform with the highest number of users, competing head-to-head with giants like Google, OpenAI, or Anthropic, but with much lower investment and without relying on external capital. Currently, it has one million paying subscribers and generates annual recurring revenues of 200 million euros. To understand how a company founded in 2010 as a simple image bank has reached this point, we spoke with two of its key figures: María Jiménez, Brand Designer, and Melissa Diago, AI Production Manager. Both have experienced the company's transformation from within and agree that the change has been natural yet decisive. Melissa Diago recalls that before joining the company, she was already a Freepik user and emphasizes that the evolution towards AI has not caused them to lose focus on creatives: “The name change implies a new visual and communication identity, but we continue to help creatives solve their daily challenges.” Now, Magnific offers a complete suite of tools that allows everything from idea generation to professional image and video editing, all in one platform. María Jiménez remembers the beginnings as a graphic resource search engine but emphasizes that now Magnific is a comprehensive creative platform where users can develop the entire creative process without leaving the environment. Both agree that the turning point came in 2022 when CEO Joaquín Cuenca decisively bet on AI. Melissa Diago recounts how, at that moment, the emergence of tools like DALL·E made them see the potential of artificial intelligence for content creation. “In September 2022, we couldn't imagine the magnitude of what we were starting,” she confesses. The decision to reinvent itself was key. “We could have stuck to our business model or bet on AI. The speed of our adaptation was crucial,” explains Jiménez. The process involved constant learning and a deep transformation, which has inspired new creators: 72% of current users are beginners. The success of Magnific has even surprised those who work there. “You know you are part of something big, but you experience it as your day-to-day life,” comments Diago. Teamwork and competition in the sector have been drivers of continuous improvement. The relaunch as Magnific represents a new beginning. “Now we need to analyze how to consolidate the change and continue growing,” they affirm. The challenge is constant, as AI evolves rapidly and requires ongoing updates. For Diago, Magnific's growth is impressive: “We started as a small platform, and now everyone uses it.” The goal is clear: to be a professional tool that helps creatives in their daily work. “It’s daunting, but also hopeful,” she concludes. The future of Magnific is uncertain but promising. The transformation from Freepik to Magnific comes at the best time, consolidating its position among the leading AI platforms in the world. “The change will mean a great leap in creativity and quality,” assures Jiménez.
