Elon Musk is confident about the future of xAI, his artificial intelligence company, as revealed in a recent general meeting held at the company's headquarters in San Francisco. According to sources present, Musk assured the team that if xAI can overcome the next two to three years, it will be able to position itself above its rivals in the sector. The CEO emphasized that xAI's ability to rapidly scale its infrastructure and data processing will be crucial in the race towards superintelligence, a level of AI that surpasses human intelligence. Musk suggested that the company could achieve artificial general intelligence (AGI) as soon as 2026, noting that the Grok 5 model, expected early next year, has a 10% chance of reaching this milestone. Musk also highlighted that xAI has a competitive advantage due to the potential access to between $20 billion and $30 billion annually in funding, in addition to benefiting from synergies with other companies in the group. An example of this integration is the incorporation of Grok into Tesla vehicles earlier this year. According to employees, Musk was pleased with xAI's progress, and the meeting was described as "lively." During the gathering, the entrepreneur shared ideas about building data centers in space and colonizing Mars, mentioning that Tesla's humanoid robot Optimus could operate these centers in the future. Musk had previously indicated that Optimus could support SpaceX missions starting next year. Other industry leaders, such as Sundar Pichai (Google) and Sam Altman (OpenAI), have also publicly discussed the possibility of space data centers, although they acknowledge the complexity of the challenge. In response to an inquiry from Business Insider, xAI replied with an automated message: "The lies of traditional media." Over the past year, xAI has rapidly expanded its data center infrastructure under the Colossus project. The company stated earlier this year that it had about 200,000 GPUs, with plans to scale up to one million, according to Musk. Although xAI is a recent player in the race for general AI, it competes with giants like OpenAI and Google in a sector that shows no signs of slowing down. Recently, OpenAI accelerated the launch of its latest model, and Google introduced Gemini, while xAI continues to update Grok at a fast pace. At the meeting, xAI executives presented updates on products such as Grok Voice, the app for Tesla users, and its intelligent agents. Improvements include enhanced predictive capabilities, better listening functions, and new video editing tools, according to internal sources. (Source: businessinsider.es)
