Carolina Wisner has recently been appointed as the dean of the Faculty of Business and Legal Sciences at CEU Fernando III University in Sevilla, located in Bormujos. Previously the vice-dean, Wisner brings significant technical experience from her time at the Telecommunications Market Commission and her involvement in the Public Sector and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Observatory. This combination of regulatory and technological knowledge enhances her teaching vocation.
At CEU Fernando III University, Wisner promotes job market-oriented training with innovative master's programs such as International Relations and Diplomacy, Technological and Digital Law, and Account Auditing.
Her experience at the Telecommunications Market Commission (now the National Commission of Markets and Competition) is reflected in her teaching, allowing her to convey to students the technological evolution and digital transformation experienced by society in both the public and private sectors, as well as the impact of AI. Additionally, her work in Administrative Law, managing sanctioning files and preparing sector reports, has provided her with practical insights into administration that she shares in the classroom, enriching both her teaching and research.
Regarding the adaptation of future professionals to the AI era, Wisner emphasizes the importance of understanding what artificial intelligence is and what it is not, the different types that exist, and the associated risks. She highlights the need for ethical and safe use of technology, protection of fundamental rights, development of critical thinking, and adaptability to change.
Concerning the alignment of master's programs with job market demands, Wisner notes that the Master's in Technological and Digital Law has a curriculum and faculty linked to law firms, tech companies, and public administration, ensuring practical and up-to-date training connected to professional reality.
On the impact of AI in education, Wisner leads an innovative teaching group at the university that develops the project "Redefining Assessment in the AI Era." This project aims to transform university assessment by integrating methodologies adapted to the digital environment and promoting formative, authentic assessment based on the DigCompEdu framework. The goal is to incorporate AI ethically, fostering metacognition, deep learning, and competencies such as autonomy and critical judgment.
In the research field, the university promotes projects addressing the challenges of the digital society. Wisner participates in initiatives on the protection of brain activity and human rights in the AI era, coordinated by Professor José Luis Piñar, with upcoming results in academic publications.
Employability is a fundamental pillar at CEU Fernando III. Internship agreements and collaboration with companies allow students to apply their knowledge in real environments, preparing them for an increasingly digital job market.
Finally, Wisner summarizes the essence of CEU Fernando III in three concepts: excellence, employability, and personalized education in values, highlighting the importance of individualized attention that distinguishes the institution.
