Google revolutionizes its home ecosystem with the arrival of Gemini, the new artificial intelligence that is gradually replacing Google Assistant on Home and Nest devices. After months of development and adjustments, Gemini is now available to users in Spain and 15 other countries, including Italy, Japan, Ireland, and France, and it supports seven new languages, including Spanish.
The rollout of Gemini for Home marks a significant advancement, as it was previously only accessible in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. However, Google clarifies that this integration is in "Early Access" phase, meaning the transition will be gradual and users will need to manually activate it from the Google Home app by going to the "Home Settings" section and signing up for "Early Access."
During this period, Google Assistant will remain the default option, and the experience with Gemini may vary depending on the features used. Nevertheless, Google promises notable improvements: Gemini not only matches the capabilities of Assistant but also adds advanced AI features, such as a 40% reduction in latency for common tasks (e.g., turning off lights), more accurate device recognition, and personalized weather forecasts based on home location.
Additionally, Gemini allows for more detailed control of smart devices, such as adjusting humidity levels in dehumidifiers or starting the preheating of ovens. Among the new features is camera search, which enables users to query what is recorded by Nest cameras.
This launch, which will be rolled out over the next week, represents a key step in Google's strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into all aspects of the connected home.
