Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind the Claude chatbot, is considering going public in October, according to sources close to the company. Founded by the Amodei brothers, Anthropic has reportedly begun preliminary discussions with Wall Street banks to define its market entry strategy. This potential initial public offering (IPO) comes amid intense competition with OpenAI, its main rival, which is also preparing for its stock market debut. Among the banks that could lead Anthropic's operation are Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, and Morgan Stanley, who are also involved in OpenAI's IPO. According to The Information, Anthropic's IPO could raise over $60 billion, although discussions are still ongoing and no final decisions have been made. So far, neither Anthropic nor the mentioned banks have made statements regarding this. In February, Anthropic was valued at $380 billion after a $30 billion funding round led by MGX. The startup maintains strategic alliances with tech giants like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Nvidia, who have invested in the company and provided advanced technology and specialized chips. Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, including CEO Dario Amodei, Anthropic has positioned itself as a more ethical alternative in AI development. Its refusal to collaborate with the Pentagon on mass surveillance and weapon automation projects has strengthened its reputation among clients in sectors like finance and healthcare. Recently, Anthropic committed to investing $50 billion in building data centers in the United States. However, its restrictions on the military use of its technology have created tensions with the Department of Homeland Security, which labeled it a threat to the national supply chain. This week, Anthropic obtained a court order blocking the government's ban on its technology, arguing that the measure could result in millions in losses for the company.
