Generative artificial intelligence has established itself as the fastest-adopted technology in history, surpassing milestones like the automobile, the internet, or the smartphone. Its impact is felt on multiple levels, transforming both the workplace and personal life. A recent Microsoft AI study, based on the analysis of 37.5 million anonymous conversations with Copilot from January to September 2025, reveals that AI serves different functions depending on the context: at work, it is a professional assistant; at home, a confidant. The computer predominates in the work environment, while the mobile phone is favored for personal use.
The report highlights that during working hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM), inquiries about "Work and career" outnumber those about "Technology." Programming questions are concentrated during the week, while inquiries related to video games increase on weekends. Philosophical questions mainly arise in the early morning, and inquiries about personal relationships spike on dates like Valentine's Day, showing predictable patterns in AI usage.
Other studies reinforce this trend toward personal use. OpenAI, after analyzing 1.1 million interactions with ChatGPT between May 2024 and July 2025, found that non-work-related inquiries rose from 53% to 73% year-on-year. The main demands are practical advice, information searches, and text writing, the latter representing 40% of actions last June.
Anthropic, for its part, examined over 4 million conversations with Claude between December 2024 and January 2025. Half of the inquiries were related to technology, followed by 20% on cultural topics. The study concludes that AI adoption is broad but superficial, with 57% of uses aimed at increasing productivity and 43% at total task automation.
However, MIT Technology Review warns about excessive expectations surrounding AI. Three years after the launch of ChatGPT, many promises remain unfulfilled. The anticipated GPT-5 model, announced with great expectation by Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has yet to revolutionize the sector as anticipated, although version 5.2 has improved key aspects. Will Douglas Heaven, the magazine's editor-in-chief, notes that society is adjusting its expectations regarding the true capabilities of AI, questioning whether large language models can match human intelligence or if we are facing an unprecedented investment bubble.
In the realm of simultaneous translation, Apple has announced the arrival of this feature in Europe for its AirPods Pro 3 and AirPods 4, using Apple Intelligence and without the need for an internet connection, as the AI model resides on the iPhone itself. Google, for its part, has incorporated simultaneous translation into its app for any headphones.
In the entertainment sector, Disney has signed an agreement with OpenAI for its characters to appear in videos generated by Sora, while demanding that Google cease the alleged massive copyright infringement, leading to the removal of videos featuring Disney characters.
Finally, the Generalitat of Catalonia has revamped its Gencat.cat portal, integrating all its websites into one and facilitating access to information through an AI chatbot as the main entry point.
