Google has launched the largest update to Chrome since its release in 2008, natively integrating Gemini, its advanced artificial intelligence. Starting today, all Google Workspace users in the United States will have access to these new features, which were previously available only to subscribers of Google AI Pro and AI Ultra. With a market share close to 70%, Chrome strengthens its leadership by making Gemini an intelligent and accessible browsing assistant for everyone. Among the most notable new features, Gemini allows users to compare products, summarize information from multiple sources, and retrieve previous pages from history, all through natural language. Unlike other assistants, Gemini can interact with all open tabs, cross-referencing information between them without the user needing to switch windows. For example, if you were researching team-building activities and closed the tabs, the next day you just have to ask Gemini to show you that information, and it will retrieve it automatically. Integration with other Google services, such as Calendar, YouTube, and Maps, further expands the possibilities: Gemini can find relevant data on screen and execute actions directly from Chrome, optimizing the user experience and centralizing everyday tasks. Google has also announced its goal of making Gemini an agentic AI, capable of performing complex and repetitive tasks for the user. In the future, Gemini will be able to make online purchases from lists in your email, reschedule deliveries, book appointments, or manage restaurant reservations, always with checkpoints for high-risk or irreversible actions. In terms of security, Gemini introduces a key feature: it detects if your passwords have been exposed in breaches and offers to change them automatically with a single click. This addresses the problem of password reuse and prevents users from having to manually modify their credentials for each affected service, thereby enhancing online privacy protection. With this update, Chrome not only improves productivity and the browsing experience but also takes a step forward in the protection and intelligent management of personal information.
