Alphabet, the parent company of Google and YouTube, closed 2025 with a net profit of $132.17 billion, a 32% increase from the previous year, driven mainly by the growth of its services and advancements in artificial intelligence. In the last quarter, the most significant for markets, the company reported a net profit of $34.455 billion, a 30% year-on-year increase, and revenue of $113.828 billion, surpassing analysts' expectations of $111.430 billion. This growth is attributed to the strong performance of Google Services and Google Cloud. Alphabet's annual revenue reached a record $402.836 billion, a 15% increase from 2024. Of this total, nearly $60 billion came from advertising and subscription revenues from YouTube, according to official data. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, emphasized that investments in infrastructure and AI technology are driving growth across all business areas. He also announced that in 2026, the company plans to increase its capital expenditure to a range of $175 billion to $185 billion, nearly double that of 2025 and well above market expectations of around $115.260 billion, according to LSEG. This increase in investment comes amid growing concerns among investors about the profitability of AI projects. Alphabet's shares fell nearly 3% on Wall Street but later recovered some of the lost ground. Currently, Alphabet is the third most valuable publicly traded company in the world, with a market capitalization of $4.02 trillion. In the fourth quarter, Google Services generated $95.9 billion, driven by search, subscriptions, devices, and advertising on YouTube. The video platform reached 325 million paid subscribers, thanks to the success of Google One and YouTube Premium. Meanwhile, Google Cloud reported $17.7 billion in revenue, with a 48% growth, led by demand for AI-based business solutions. Pichai highlighted that Google Cloud closed the year with an annual run rate of $70 billion, reflecting strong demand for AI products. Regarding AI advancements, the Gemini models process about 10 billion tokens per minute, and the Gemini app now has 750 million monthly active users. In contrast, Alphabet's "Other Bets" division, which includes Waymo, slightly reduced its revenue to $370 million and tripled its operating losses to $3.617 billion. Waymo announced a $16 billion funding round, mostly financed by Alphabet, which resulted in a $2.1 billion charge for employee compensation in the last quarter.
