Maria González Veracruz Highlights Digital Health Innovation of Vision.app at Mobile World Congress The Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, Maria González Veracruz, has emphasized the participation of the Murcian company Vision.app in the Spain Pavilion at the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, a space managed by Red.es that this year has brought together 49 exhibitors and is consolidating as one of the most active and visible focal points of the event. González Veracruz highlighted the "techno-optimistic" approach of the Spanish Government in the international context, underscoring the national commitment to artificial intelligence in both its regulation and development. "Spain is betting on AI to ensure legal security and economic dynamism, generating wealth and well-being in the new technological era," she stated. As an example of innovation aimed at improving quality of life, the Secretary of State highlighted the work of Vision.app, which has developed technology capable of measuring visual acuity in cases of myopia, astigmatism, or presbyopia, allowing monitoring from any mobile device. In this regard, González Veracruz emphasized state investment in artificial intelligence applied to health. "AI is enabling significant advances in early detection, monitoring, and treatments. It is positive to see how the transfer of knowledge from universities to companies like Vision.app allows citizens to monitor their vision easily, promoting more effective and conscious eye care," she noted. 100 million to boost AI in Spanish companies During the Mobile World Congress, the Secretary of State announced that the Government will allocate 100 million euros to Spanish companies to promote projects that reinforce European digital sovereignty through the IPCEI on Artificial Intelligence (IPCEI-AI). This announcement was made during a meeting with the Minister for Digital Transformation, Óscar López, and German Minister Karsten Wildberger, within the framework of this high-impact European project led by Germany. Additionally, González Veracruz celebrated the historic investment of 33.7 billion euros announced by Amazon for the development of data centers in Spain. She also highlighted the implementation of use cases of ALIA, the public and free infrastructure of artificial intelligence resources, by numerous Spanish companies. "We are reaching a new level by adapting AI to internal and commercial processes, as well as to administration, without relying on foreign technologies and with applications that improve people's lives," she concluded.
