The Jackson Greathouse Fall Experiment: Can AI Create a Profitable Business from Scratch?
In 2023, American designer Jackson Greathouse Fall decided to test the potential of artificial intelligence for entrepreneurship. With just $100 and the promise to strictly follow ChatGPT's instructions, his goal was clear: to multiply his investment without breaking the law.
The AI's proposal was straightforward: launch an online store for eco-friendly products. Fall registered the domain Green Gadget Guru, hired hosting, generated the logo with DALL-E, and built the website using texts, structure, and code suggested by ChatGPT. The strategy included social media marketing, affiliate links, and creating a blog to attract traffic from Google.
The project quickly caught attention on social media. Fall received investment offers—$100 for 25% and $500 for 2% of the business—and donations from followers, accumulating over $7,700 in just a few days. However, the store never functioned as such: the catalog was nonexistent, products lacked information, and the blogs only displayed placeholder texts. There was no payment system or shopping cart.
In response to criticism for the lack of progress, Fall explained that the process was slow because he had to manually execute the ideas generated by the AI. On March 16, he announced the end of the experiment, although the site remained online for a few more weeks. By May 2025, the domain became unavailable, and Fall disappeared from social media, without clarifying the fate of the funds or responding to those interested in investing.
Today, Green Gadget Guru is merely a documented case in screenshots, threads on X, and news articles. There are no records of sales or real commercial activity, and the outcome of the experiment remains a mystery. The story raises questions about the limits of AI in entrepreneurship and the importance of human execution behind any digital project.
