Spanish investment firm Demium has launched Mission, its new venture capital fund aimed at early-stage start-ups, with a target of 35 million euros. This launch marks a new phase for the firm, which adopts the name Mission after more than a decade of experience, as detailed by its founder Jorge Dobón. Mission Fund I plans to invest in around 80 emerging companies, with initial tickets of 250,000 euros and the possibility of reaching up to two million in the most promising companies, acting as the first institutional investor. The fund has already begun operations and is backed by successful investors, as well as entities like the Official Credit Institute (ICO) and the Valencian Institute of Finance (IVF), which renew their trust in the management team. Demium's transition, initiated in 2023, involved moving from an incubation model to direct capital investment. In its first ten years, the firm supported over 250 start-ups in 14 cities across eight countries, backing notable cases such as Citibox, Voicemod, Singularu, Landbot, and Swipcar. Mission represents the natural evolution of the experience accumulated by Demium, which now seeks to consolidate its strategy under a new brand and structure, focused on leveraging the rise of artificial intelligence and automation. The fund is led by Jorge Dobón as managing partner, alongside Mario Navarro (Triple), Julio Ribes (Swipcar, Holaglow), and Álvaro Callejo (ex Ritmo). Dobón emphasizes that Mission is born with the vision of being the investor that entrepreneurs would wish to have in their cap table, in an ecosystem where founders have more options than ever. “We believe that the best founders seek a partner who shares their conviction and work ethic,” he states. In the last three years, the firm has invested in companies such as Dealcar, Orbital Paradigm, Rauda AI, and Theker, the latter specializing in robotics and artificial intelligence for industry and logistics, which recently closed a round of 21 million euros with participation from Inditex. Theker exemplifies the type of start-ups that Mission aims to scale: advanced technology, tangible impact, and teams with global ambition. “Europe needs to reindustrialize, and AI-based robotics will be key. Theker is the type of company we want to support from the start,” concludes Dobón.
