The growing concern over the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has reached the White House, which is now under pressure to establish regulations before the technology escapes its control. A recent report on the destructive potential of Claude Mythos, should it fall into the wrong hands, has alarmed the Trump Administration, which had previously shown enthusiasm for U.S. technological developments. The optimism of technology experts in the U.S. has turned into unease, as the White House demands to halt the development of increasingly unpredictable AI through new regulations. According to eleconomista.es, Spanish entrepreneurs compare the impact of AI to that of nuclear energy or the pharmaceutical industry, emphasizing the need for strict regulation. Concern is rapidly spreading among policymakers and economic leaders. U.S. media reported that Washington and Beijing are considering starting formal talks about the risks of AI ahead of the upcoming summit in China between Trump and Xi Jinping. The fear not only affects the global financial sector but also threatens to impact key industries such as energy, healthcare, and critical infrastructure management, jeopardizing traditional security systems. In this context, a call from Vice President James David Vance to leaders of major AI companies was leaked. According to The New York Times, Vance urged executives from OpenAI (Sam Altman), Anthropic (Dario Amodei), Google (Sundar Pichai), Microsoft (Satya Nadella), and SpaceX (Elon Musk) to collaborate to ensure global safety. Musk had recently warned about the existential danger of AI. The meeting also included Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The White House warned about new AI models capable of detecting software vulnerabilities and launching cyberattacks against local banks, hospitals, and water plants, surpassing the response capacity of local governments. Vance emphasized the need for joint action and tasked National Cybersecurity Director Sean Cairncross with leading the response to Mythos. Meanwhile, India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expressed concern over the unprecedented systemic risk posed by AI. In a high-level meeting with banking executives and officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, it was agreed to strengthen the protection of the country's digital payment system, which serves over 800 million people, to respond in a coordinated and timely manner to new threats.
