Artificial Intelligence: A Driving Force for Transformation in Future Companies The pursuit of greater efficiency, cost reduction, and improved decision-making is prompting companies to rethink technological integration in their daily operations. In this context, artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer a promise but has become a key element in the evolution of organizations: more agile, predictive, and competitive. This was the central theme of the observatory "From Efficiency to Decision: The Real Impact of AI on Business," organized by elEconomista.es in collaboration with Oracle and the consulting firm Timestamp, specialized in digital transformation and IT system integration. The event brought together leaders such as Julio Moreta (Exolum Group), Manuel de Arcocha (Ecoembes), Pedro Pérez (Comillas Pontifical University ICAI-ICADE), Juan Manuel Caballero (Ilunion), Francesc Suero Marqués (Audax Renovables), Leticia Guerrero Alonso (Sener), Pedro Tavares (Timestamp), and Alfonso Cossío (Oracle Iberia). Through concrete experiences, experts analyzed how AI integrated into business systems allows for process optimization, risk anticipation, and accelerated decision-making in areas such as finance, supply chain, or production. "We advocate for AI that solves problems, but it must also be efficient, responsible, sustainable, and secure," emphasized the head of Ecoembes. The CIO of Audax Renovables stressed the importance of a gradual and selective implementation: "The adoption of AI requires time, focus, and prioritization. It makes no sense to launch initiatives without a clear objective and end up in the valley of disillusionment after investing too many resources." Leticia Guerrero (Sener) highlighted the transformative impact of AI: "We have a plan to apply AI both at the individual and process levels, with the goal of transforming our business." One of the main challenges is the speed at which technology advances, surpassing companies' ability to adapt. "AI evolves too quickly, and that generates concern. We must develop strategies that allow us to scale," warned the representative of Exolum Group. Timestamp emphasized the need to keep pace with technological advancements to avoid falling behind. The CIO of Ilunion shared that they have discarded projects for becoming obsolete due to the rapid development of AI, although this has not hindered the launch of initiatives that improve accessibility and labor inclusion for people with disabilities. Data governance is essential to ensure quality and security in the use of AI. "We are facing a democratization of AI, but there must always be a human decision behind it," stated the leader of Oracle Iberia, who also highlighted the importance of simple integration and clear returns. Francesc Suero Marqués (Audax Renovables) noted that AI allows for adjusting offers and attracting new customers, while Julio Moreta (Exolum Group) warned about the need to monitor data quality to prevent erroneous information from contaminating processes. Leticia Guerrero (Sener) celebrated that AI is already adding value and that the organization is ready to take it to the next level. Manuel de Arcocha (Ecoembes) insisted that AI must be efficient, responsible, and secure. Juan Manuel Caballero (Ilunion) emphasized that AI should serve people, facilitating inclusion. Pedro Tavares (Timestamp) demystified the fear of job destruction: "AI does not replace people; it helps make better decisions and allows professionals to focus on higher-value tasks." Meanwhile, Pedro Pérez (Comillas Pontifical University ICAI-ICADE) underscored the importance of adapting AI to education and better preparing students for the labor market. In summary, artificial intelligence is opening new possibilities for companies and society, marking a turning point in the way we work and compete. Source: elEconomista.es
