Clawdbot is an open-source artificial intelligence that has gained popularity for its ability to remotely control computers. Its operation is reminiscent of Recall, Microsoft's feature designed to help users find anything they have seen or done on their device using AI. However, Recall was criticized for privacy issues, leading Microsoft to disable it by default, allowing users to decide whether to activate it. Privacy remains a key concern for users who seek to protect their data and personal files. In this context, Clawdbot emerges as an AI that acts as a personal assistant, allowing free control of devices with access to its source code. It can be managed from the web or through messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, or Discord, and its interface resembles that of ChatGPT or Gemini. Unlike other chatbots, Clawdbot not only answers questions but also executes actions on the computer according to user instructions. For example, it can send messages on WhatsApp, open applications, search for contacts, and draft texts automatically. Additionally, it can install apps, browse websites, summarize information, and manage smart devices at home. Clawdbot requires advanced permissions to operate, including full access to the hard drive and device storage. It can integrate with a wide variety of services and applications, such as Slack, Signal, iMessage, Spotify, Chrome, Gmail, Github, Notion, Trello, Home Assistant, 1Password, and many more, giving it almost total control over the system where it is installed. This level of access poses significant risks: any error or misunderstanding by the AI could affect files or the functioning of the computer. Moreover, Clawdbot is vulnerable to prompt injection attacks, increasing the risk of third parties manipulating its actions. For all these reasons, it is recommended to use Clawdbot only on secondary devices and never on devices that contain personal or sensitive information, especially if one lacks experience in managing such tools.
